Senior Lotus Notes Administrator (Eastern Hemisphere) - Western Atlas International Inc. August 1996 – Feb 1999


Certifying and Re-Certifying ID’s. Cross Certifying and creating new organisational units.
Updating and maintaining the Master Name and Address Book, including users, group’s, server and connection documents (Also cascaded address books).
Replicating/Trouble shooting/maintenance to any one of our 130 servers, across 70+ sites and 16 domains, world-wide.
Checking notes log and troubleshooting replication and mail routing problems/issues.
Dealing with user queries world wide, ranging from replication issues & missing mail problems, to general usage for 10,000+ users.
Providing comprehensive support to other Western Atlas server administrators.
Continually upgrading users from version 3 and 4 to version 4.6
New installations of notes for both network and remote users.
Adjusting/creating Access control lists.
Creating roles within ACL’s and applying them.
Setting up remote users for dial-up connections to servers.

Other tasks :
Maintain Office Intranet site (Using Domino) and provide technical assistance to other departments within the company for departmental web sites.
Writing web pages for other departments within the company.

Completed Projects:

Travelling to Aberdeen office and upgrading the server to version 4.5 from version 3, including 50 users attached to it.
Travelling to Stavanger office and upgrading the server from version 3 to version 4.5, including 36 users attached to it.
Travelling to our Holland offices in Den Helder and Tolbert on several occasions, to upgrade the Den Helder server to version 4.1 from version 3 and again from 4.1 to 4.5. Installing a new 4.5 server in the Tolbert office and 27 client installations. This installation included a lengthy troubleshooting session to sort out problems experienced in the initial installation and local telecomms. Set up server clustering in the London office, troubleshooting Cluster replication errors ad-hoc.
Installing notes server, File server and network in Albania office – Server(s), hub, cable runs, data points etc.
Set up and configured a Lotus Domino Web server to act as part of the company’s new Intranet, planning access and content.
Set up and configured two client servers, considering security issues and restrictions, then implementing them, one on site and one in Cairo, Egypt.
Planning and rolling out 6-server notes cluster in London with R4.6.2, also using hunt groups under notes, modem server cluster, mail server cluster and data server cluster.
6 weeks in Houston office to train notes administrators, deploy new ‘pass thru’ server with USR total control box, housing 24 modems.
Deployed new client servers for marine crews at sea, connecting over Vsat link.
Providing notes access via web browsers for Exchange clients to notes databases.
Providing email to UNIX users through Netscape, replacing ELM mail.

 

Senior Technical Assistant. - Western Atlas International Inc. September 1988 – August 1996


Setting up new batch jobs to run on the IBM to create seismic sections plotted on electrostatic plotters.
Studying the job log to ascertain which jobs (run on a mainframe IBM) had failed.
Creating Seismic maps using a digitiser, for use on seismic displays.
Digitising client logos, for use on seismic displays.
Logging new contracts.
Analysing batch jobs that had failed and manipulating JCL to get them to run successfully.
Working on up to 15 different seismic contracts simultaneously, performing multiple project management.

Completed Projects:

Beta tester of new seismic display software to replace existing software (Called Computer Aided Plotting System – C.A.P.S.), to run on RS6000’s instead of mainframe.
Solely responsible for generating and compiling seismic displays of the largest 2D seismic survey undertaken by Western Atlas, comprising of 1600 seismic displays, requiring complex JCL and multiple batch job submission, with a final report to co-ordinate at the end of the contract, spanning almost 10 months of work.
