Pathway: Home Turkey
Turkey
I have to admit, Turkey is not the sort of place I would stick at the top of my list to have a holiday in. I mean, its hot, hot and really hot most of the time, which is quite possibly the reason I went there in February! I was expecting it to be a little better than home, but not so hot my skin would peel the moment I got there! After spending 4 hours (ish) on a BA flight out of Heathrow that was virtually empty and I swear there were more staff on board then passengers, I landed in Istanbul not expecting to be greeted by snow! Yep, snow! it was about 3 degrees and there was snow on the ground! One of the reasons for going to Istanbul had a lot to do with being able to fly direct and on BA. I was not prepared to wear a tag on Turkish Cypriot airlines saying "Hijack me today!"

Observations - Turkey

Exchange rate! For the price of a can of coke, you are a millionaire!

Cost of living. A small amount will go a very long way.

Gold is disgustingly cheap!

The place is amazingly friendly. Although, they will try to sell you a carpet!

I felt absolutely safe wandering around Istanbul at night by myself. Though, I may have been lucky!
